The book contains factual details of the struggle for settlement and gradual prosperity of the Dhaliah family in Mauritius from the very beginning. Pleasant weather, gentle waves, rainbows in the sky were indeed helpful, but life as such was quite tough. Founder of the Dhaliah family reached Mauritius as an indentured laborer in 1865, first two generations of Dhaliahs were engaged in making their survival comfortable. The third generation got exposed to preliminary education and realized the strength of education. The fourth generation was given adequate education despite meager family income and other constraints, but members of the family excelled fighting all odds, they form a part of the Indian diaspora today.
