This jewel-bearing land is Bharat. Age after age, immortal great souls have appeared in this land. This land gave birth to Raja Rammohan Roy and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. The people of this country have witnessed the sagehood of Debendranath, the eloquence of Keshab, the love of truth of Mahendra, the genius of Bankim, the patriotism of Vivekananda, and the strong personality of Krishnamohan. This Yugabadan presents a brief account of the achievements, noble character, and devotion to the welfare of the country, of those progressive individuals who contributed to the eradication of social inequality and the advancement of all humanity.

About Author : 

Dr. Ananta Kumar Chattopadhyay was born on 7th November 1902, into a Talukdar family in the village of Kuriana, in Barisal. He began his professional career as a physician. During the British era, he served as a physician various institutions in in Nilphamari, Goalhat, Bagerhat and Rangpur. After the partition of the country, in 1948, he was appointed to the post of physician in a government hospital in West Bengal by Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was a man of scientific temperament and upright character. His authored works include 'Chinta Kanika', 'Gita Sar', 'Yugabadan', and 'Bharat Sabhyatar Itihas'. He departed for his heavenly abode on 22nd January, 1988.
